Tendrivskyi Lighthouse

Tourists visiting the island pay special attention to Tendrivskyi Lighthouse. It is considered to be the oldest on the south of Ukraine! It was built in 1827. The thirty-meter stone building is well preserved. It is interesting that starting from the moment of its construction it has never been overhauled a single time. The out-dated equipment was changed with the modern light and optical one.

The history of the lighthouse is not simple. It has survived two world wars andin the 1980s it withstood powerful storms. A lot of ships coming from Bosporus to Odessa used to come to the island.

Visitors can take a tour to Tendrivskyi Lighthouse beginning at Zaliznyi Port. Travelers will hike up along 104 steps of original winding staircase. And what an astounding view there is!

Before visiting the lighthouse, it is necessary that guests learn the policy of attendance, since there are strategic objects and they may not be allowed.

The location and how to get here

Tenrivska Spit is located on the south of Ukraine between the Black Sea and the Tendrivskyi Bay. The nearest localities are Zaliznyi Port and Ochakiv. It is not easy to get on the spit since it is mostly a preserved territory.

There are no regular passages to Tendra. It is easier to get here from the Zaliznyi Port. There you can join the package group trip. One more option is to rent a boat by yourself. The boat ride will take 2-3 hours.

There are also tours from Odessa by yacht or motorboat, which will take about 6 hours.

Important! It is mandatory that you agree with your carrier on where and what time to pick you up from the island. The mobile/internet connection is very low and it will be very difficult to get through. Before going to the island you have to get instructed by Border Police officers.
