The unique waterfalls in the steppes of the Kherson region are located in the village of Kozatske on the banks of the Dnipro River near the estate once belonging to Prince Petro Mykolaiovych Trubetskyi.

The manor of Prince Trubetskyi occupies a worthy place among the architectural complexes of the estates of the Kherson region. This is an excellent example of a palace and garden complex in the South of Ukraine. Its buildings are scattered across many private courtyards of the Kozatske village.

How waterfalls appeared in steppes

The waterfalls appeared in the 1970s and picturesquely feature the ruins of the old castle. The location turned out to be surprisingly natural, but cloaked in secrets and legends.

Waterfall

Their origin can be explained quite simply - these are the waters of the Kakhovka reservoir, which channeled new waterways by eroding soft limestone. The waterfalls are unique natural wonders because they are located outside of the mountain system!

You can easily find them - they are located below the ruins of Trubetskyi Castle on steep stone slopes. The sound of falling water can be heard from afar. This is one of the most mysterious and beautiful natural sites in the Taurida Region. People even say that this is the only steppe waterfall in the world.

Why is this place interesting for tourists

The location of these unique waterfalls in the Kherson steppes is a bewitching natural phenomenon. A walk in the vicinity of the old castle from the bank  of the Dnipro provides a picturesque view and gives great pleasure to visitors, especially in the summer heat. You can wash yourself in the refreshing flows from the falls, relieve stress and weariness, and take unforgettable photos. Additionally, a nearby meadow is a great place for a picnic.

You can get to the village of Kozatske  by bus or minibus from. Near the picturesque ruins of Trubetskyi chateau, nearly the entire rocky coast is streamed with pearly flows.

Behind the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, there are some other interesting tourist sites - the medieval tower of Vytautas and the Prince Trubetskyi chateau amid a winery.
