This building is located in the heart of the city and has a long history. The people in Kherson consider it a symbol of the regional center due to its unique architecture of the early 20th century.
The City Council, Court, Mayor and Public Bank were located here since 1907. In 1977, it became a gallery. The collection began to be formed after 1890. The gallery was named after a famous painter, Oleksii Oleksiyovych Shovkunenko, in 1981.
What to see
Now the collection consists of 12,000 pieces. It is considered one of the most in Ukraine.

There are two permanent exhibitions:
- 19th century Ukrainian paintings;
- 19th century Russian paintings.
Here you can familiarize yourself with the works of Konstantin Kryzhitsky, Nikolay Kuznetsov, Nikolay Skadovsky, Alexey Bogolyubov, Konstantin Trutovsky, and other Ukrainian and foreign painters.
The gallery also features unique Chinese vases, Japanese carcasses, sculptures, and other objects from the eastern countries.

Kherson Art Museum is located at 34 Soborna Str. You can get there by trolleybus or minibus passing on Soborna Str. Stop on Vorontsovska Str.
Hours of operation: Tue-Sun, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance ticket price: from 5 to 30 UAH.
